Birds

Although I love all forms of natural history, I have my greatest interest in birds. My passion for birds was ignited when I was 8, when my father took me into a bird hide for the first time. I was amazed by the Curlew which walked right in front of the hide which its curiously long bill, and the mesmerising sky dancing display of a male Lapwing.

I was hooked, and my bed time reading for the next couple of years was mainly bird field guides and other related things! When I was 12 I even wrote my own book on the coastal birds of Sussex and Kent to raise money for the RSPB and Wildlife Trusts, and although with the benefit of hindsight I now recognise that the photos weren't great, I was able to see many new species during the making of it and it definitely deepened my interest in both birds and photography.

Birds are my most photographed subjects, so below I have included a selection of my favourites.
